Drift Racing

Drag Strip

Drifting is the act of putting a vehicle sideways through a turn. Highly experienced drift racers, known as dirfters, will be able to maintain the side-ways angle of the car even as the turn smooths out into a straight line. During a drift, the vehicles front end will point towards the inner wall of the turn, while the back end kicks outwards. This is caused by a loss of traction in the rear wheels, which sends the back-end sliding sideways. As you may have noticed, it takes a very experienced driver to maintain a stable drift for extended periods of time, as controlling a vehicle that has just lost traction can be very hard to do.

Drift cars are specially built vehicles that require high performance outputs, as they require a lot of power to cause the rear tires to break free of traction. As you may have noticed, in order to perform a drift, the vehicle must be a rear-wheel drive since we need to send the power to the rear wheels in order to break them free of traction. In addition to high performance engines, these cars must also be striped of non-essential material, whether it be a front bumper, or the rear seats.
